A loop from Marrakech up into the high Atlas mountains.
M'Rock n' Roll
After a couple of day's riding into the high Atlas mountain range, south of Marrakech I came to a junction - both physical and mental. I was running out of water and daylight. Turn left, downhill for a comfortable loop back and an easy ride back to the capital the following day. Turn right, uphill, into the unknown and hope to make it to the next town for supplies.
In the spirit of adventure I turned right. I soon met a cyclist who told me to head to Outkameiden and stay at the only hotel there. After hours of gruelling off road climbing up savage gradients into the night and into the snow, I arrived at the hotel only to find they were full. A local Berber took pity on me and hooked me up with a couple who let me spend the night in their hut. Soon a party was in full swing, the tiny hut full of tagine, mint tea and music. I've never been so grateful for a bit of cold concrete to call a bed. Thank you.
